Cullen Winter is a professional musician who has lived in Taos, New Mexico for the past twenty-eight years. A jazz drummer at heart, Winter began making music at a young age and started playing in clubs when he was just eleven years old. In his late teens, he picked up the electric guitar and started playing in a variety of bands. With a career spanning over two decades, he has honed his skills as a musician and performer and is known for his energetic and engaging live shows. Winter attributes his success in music to the opportunities provided to him by the schools he attended, including Denver Public Schools and studying with jazz great Alan Dawson.
However, Winter's journey to success was not without its challenges. In his 20s, he engaged in self-destructive behaviors such as substance abuse, but ultimately managed to overcome these challenges and continue pursuing his passion for music. Today, he is enjoying success as a musician in Taos and is grateful to be able to do what he loves every day. Winter's diverse musical interests are reflected in the various genres he plays,including rockabilly, spaghetti western, surf, and jazz. He is currently active with the band Chicken Sedan, which he describes as a "rockabilly secret agent," as well as the jazz group Daily Winter Crow.
Recently, Chicken Sedan has been working with engineer Max Moulton to release new original music. Winter and the band are excited to share their music with the world and hope that more people will discover them on streaming platforms and social media.
In addition to his work with Chicken Sedan, Winter is also part of a jazz trio Daily Winter Crow. The trio has been recording their spontaneous and improvised sessions, resulting in a large amount of music in a short period of time. The bands have found a supportive community in Taos and are grateful for the love and support of their fans.
